Spokesperson: Bill Gustin

Bill Gustin, Partner at Shiptronix

Bill Gustin is a partner at Shiptronix. He started in finance, built and sold a large e-commerce business to a publicly traded company, and now runs his own consumer product brands while advising operators and private equity investors on AI, e-commerce and technology. He is known for explaining complex AI themes to business leaders and translating them into outcomes, then working alongside their teams so they start creating value right away instead of being left with a plan. He builds the AI systems he runs his companies on, from daily data pipelines and AI agents to this website, which he built and publishes with Claude Code.

What Bill can talk about

  • AI for operators, minus the hype. What AI actually changes in a small or mid-size company, where it fails, and how an owner can tell the difference before spending money.
  • AI agents that touch real systems. Connecting AI to Outlook, Google Workspace, Shopify, QuickBooks and ad platforms with the Model Context Protocol, and why feedback loops matter more than prompts.
  • Executives who build with AI. How a non-developer runs a production website, data pipelines and an AI phone assistant with Claude Code, and what that means for small teams.
  • Email security and deliverability. DMARC enforcement, the Google, Yahoo and Microsoft sender rules, and why so many brands stop at p=none. Backed by our study of 500 ecommerce domains.
  • E-commerce operations. Amazon advertising, inventory planning, importing and the numbers behind running consumer brands across Amazon, direct-to-consumer and retail.
  • Technology in deals. Technology due diligence, AI across the private equity deal cycle, and what buyers should check before they close.

Original research

DMARC adoption in ecommerce: 500 brands checked (November 2026)

  • 97.2% of ecommerce domains publish a DMARC record, but only 50.8% enforce it with quarantine or reject.
  • 86.6% of large brands enforce, against 47.5% of mid-size and 19.0% of small brands.
  • 22.1% publish DMARC with no reporting address, so nobody receives the reports.

Journalists are welcome to cite the data with a link to the study. We can provide methodology details and comment.
